Basically the appeal of this board is: 1. it is fairly inexpensive for a board of its size. 2. it is highly HIGHLY durable 3. it is meant for learning to surf and is ideal for most adults from about 100 to 200 lbs.So in summary it is an all around accessible board to any and everyone one, especially for beginners/intermediate, it's very durable, and can catch even very small waves. It is perfect for learning to surf. Plus did I mention it qualifies for free shipping . . . .(professional opinion on the board)(board in action)

I'm generally happy with this board but there were a couple of issues. There were a couple of warped areas on the bottom of the board. Not big enough that it would cause problems with the use of the board but it was an annoyance since I purchased this brand new. Amazon has great customer service and they discounted the board which worked out fine for me.The second issue is, there are no instructions on fin installation and I found out I was missing a couple small, but critical screws (and the plate). BIC customer service is non-existant in this country. I called the headquarters in MA and the lady was very unhelpful. She just said to call Amazon or return it instead of sending me an envelope with a dollars worth of materials to satisfy me (and hey, thanks for purchasing our product).I had to track down my own set of screws and the screw plate and pay for them myself.Just FYI. NO customer service from BIC.

I wanted to use this board a few times before writing a review. I'm 6'1 and 190 lbs for reference. I switched over from a soft top because it was beginning to limit my surfing ability as I progressed. The Magnum made a huge difference in the number of waves you can pick up once the seas get slightly choppy from the wind. The board is really stable due to the extra width. I noticed the surface takes the wax really well, and the board stays waxed. Once you pick up the wave it is a fast board compared to a soft top. The large center fin makes it easy to make sharp turns without the board sliding out from under you. I have been able to use it for 2 ft long board waves as well as 4-6 ft long period tropical swell.The only negatives were the packaging was pretty beat up when I received it. My board had a dimple from something laying on it in the truck. The center fin also had a razor sharp edge which I removed with some sand paper to avoid getting accidentally cut. I would buy it again for sure.
