Product Description
Manufacturer note: Developed with the help from an expert foam engineer and professional surfers. A combination of high quality components and unique board design make this an ideal surfboard for beginners to experienced surfers alike.
WBS- Top Deck: IXL PE foam layer with WBS (water barrier skin). Minimizes scratches, abrasions and indentations. Helps prevent water absorption. Added UV inhibitor protects foam surface. Provides good surface traction.
Hybrid Composite Core: Unique beaded PS core provides excellent stiffness and impact resistance.
Bottom Slick: IXL PE foam layer with HDPE slick coating. Provides maximum stiffness for all water conditions.
Personal note: After surfing for over 30 years in over 10 USA states and several countries along with having children who surf, I can personally note this board is perfect for the beginner or for goofing off on small waves that normally would not float you on a smaller board. Rentals for surfing can be incredibly expensive. Wait until you arrive at the beach and the local surf shop may charge in excess of $400- if they even have in stock. The foam padded top will help protect your body from the harm of the standard fiberglass board. Other boards tend to become water logged easily. Once this occurs, you might as well toss the board. This patented design by the manufacturer has 3 layers to help prevent leaks and protect you. It also weighs about 10 pounds or far less than any other foam board I have ever held. This is a great board for even the experienced surfer to have as a backup for those small days or to loan to family or friends who you would never trust with your "good" board(s). It is similar to the popular "fun shape." Fun shapes / funboards are known for being like the name- "fun." A fun board for nearly any type of surf. Our family personally owns 2 of these exact boards.

By Cappy Jimbo
Just bought two of these at Costco for $99 each, had to join for $55 (but this is refundable later). Bottom line: two of these boards for less than $200. Unfortunately, people are buying these boards and reselling them on Craigs and perhaps here too. Don't be fooled. As far as the board itself, it was well packaged, and the intial quality looks good. The manufacturer's insert claims a waterproof, closed cell PS (polystyrene) core and three laminated wood stringers, all for stiffness. The outer layers are soft coated PE foam (polyethylene), and three plastic fins. Nice rocker, about 23 inches wide by 3 inches thick, nice full shape for beginners. This board is waterproof, quite buoyant and should hold up pretty well with the combination of stringers and PS core. The manufacturer's website is pretty interesting - I have an engineering background and it is clear this is no small company, but uses state of the art shaping, materials, design and bonding. Very impressive. We'll see, will report more later as we run em through the wringer. But for $99, this was a no-brainer and fine for learning and deciding whether surfing is for us. Online research found a consensus that this board surfs well. For now the Board would have gotten four stars, but not at $229 plus $40 plus shipping.

The AK-47 of foam longboardsThe other reviewer is correct! Don't be scammed into buying this board for over $99. Go to Costco and buy it there for $99.We spend a large portion of the summer in San Clemente, CA. These boards are EVERYWHERE. It seems like everyone has one or two in their garage. And who can blame em? Cheap, durable, and fun! Are they high performance? No, but you would be blown away if you saw what these kids can do on these things. Shore break barrels all day long. These boards take a BEATING, and I've only seen a couple ever break.A beater board that you'll have a ton of fun on and not have to worry about dinging. So go ahead and ride it into the sand :DHope this helps!

By SweetJane
Took the board out today for first time. Will definetly need wax. I could barely stay on it paddling out. Every time I stood up my feet were slipping all over the place! I'll try wax and see if that does the trick. Wasn't thinking I was going to need that with this soft board. Also- buy it at Costco.
